Cheat Text Search
« on: September 13, 2019, 12:13:39 pm »
Ok Rad and myself have been looking at this again and it seems Nemu Text search does indeed something Hinky that is not compatible with PJ.
However.... Zilmars Newer model with group effort overhauling the Cheat search stuff i stumbled on their improvements.
By searching known values and selecting String method it can now search for text rather accurately with incorporated live test result section like outs but also the bonus of viewing in Memory editor and live changing there also.

Anyway....

Below is a mod Ive done on  007 - The World is Not Enough (U) to Replace Agent, Secret Agent and OO Agent with Rob, Secret Rob and 00 Rob.

What I really like about TextSearch.png and MemEditor.png is the ability to show as Text or Hex result and also to open a Memory Editor that can Live update the value to see in realtime... nice! We need that  ;;)

This is just proof of concept, lots of work needed yet.
Please test out if the other functionality has changed any as I rewrote a lot of the back end to try to simplify things.

I need to byteswap the input for searching so that won't really work, you can test it out though.
"Agent" in TWINE would end up being gAne\0t but I've no idea how you're going to copy and paste the null terminator into it.
Best you can look up is probably gAne but even that doesn't return the full list...

Hmm I just remembered I haven't finished off the cheat sorting...
Take care not to get the cheats out of order, the numbering should be Cheat0, Cheat1, etc... no sudden jumps like Cheat0, Cheat10, Cheat2 as it will ignore the latter past Cheat0.
Just need to stop right now and take a break.

Now butters your scones!

Should now search for text.
Still no replacing but I'm seeing odd results from the hits.
Also, ignore the fact that it's returning 0 for all values.
That will come later once I decide what to do.

Oh, you completely removed my old post  :-?

Cheat search should be stable and fully working on this version
Text search should bring up results

I have yet to fix up the edit part and there are some minor annoyances I need to sort once I make the time.

Plugin stuff has been reverted.
I have ideas for that but I first need to reach a stable point on cheats before I start messing with that again.

Well in my defense, you was completely correct in the assumption that Gented the Forum.
So i have to restore the forum to back a week ago before it got borked.

Problem with the current build search.

After an initial search blank (default 0) or any value search results in no change in options, Unknow, Decimal or Hexadecimal.
It also also the same situation for Unknown Search, same result.

Aye, it was one of the sections I removed because the bulk of the code was simply confusing me.
It's back in but there's no build for you yet.

I'm still working on the code dev section so you can edit and add them from the cheat search prompt.
So the next build I post should have that working again, with text search replacement following.
After that's working I'll add sanity checks to the text to make sure it is writing proper values (Mostly ASCII if memory serves)

Saving I think we decided on keeping compatibility with current cheats?
Unless you really fancied the idea I had of having Cheat_0=80000432 "The Gent"

I could even put something else following so other emulators won't have an issue, like "Cheat_0TR=" (Text Replace)
It'll be maybe a week yet before I reach that point but we can discuss it in the mean time.

Managed to work on this a little more.
No progress on text search yet but it should be stable and usable.

Let me know if it crashes on anything... it's quite late so I may have made some goofs, heh.

No I've not yet looked at what Ice wanted me to.
It should be a simple thing to fix but I have limited time and such.
Maybe in my morning I'll take another look at things, it all depends on when I wake up.

Ok there is another issue left here Rad.

The issue with when double clicking on search results, it now poulates the UI with that information.
But, the issue now is: When adding your Name of Cheat (Description) and submitting (OK) It does nothing.

It does not save chosen results to Cheat Result Section.

See Video.

Note to self for later:
apps file is being written to improperly
Also check reading of [ ] when first entry, code might be ignoring it

Ok that works great, But: On pressing the reset button, the text still remains, and Text Search is still Selected
This should clear the the text field and revert to default Value Search with Text search unselected.
Also On the results testing area, if you try to delete the first cheat it crashes. Also it cannot delete the last (1st Cheat) as it crashes)
