Rom Directory
« on: July 30, 2011, 11:05:57 AM »
I think it would be a great idea to have a Directories Dilog like that of Mupen or Similar as seen in mupen_rom_dir.png below.

The reason for this is rather simple really.
At the moment we can only select one Directory at a time and use recurse to allow any sub folders within.

So i choose Good which are all my good roms and that leaves me limited from any other until i choose a new Rom Directory.

But by allowing the option to add multi directories like Mupen does, we can pick and choose what we desire and leave out the ones we do not which is ideal.

By allowing this:

i can still have the Good, and Promo or choose only EUR and USA (leaving out JAP)
and not have to use Bad, over dumps etc

as all roms are in a Roms/N64 folder with everything else in subs folders

this will save having to keep going to choose new rom directory every-time i need to test another folder

For this very reason I've stopped using "Good Name" on the rom browser.
Instead I rely on the file name since some roms in my "Good" directory can be overdumps or fixed roms that share the same crc1 and crc2 as a "Good" rom.

I don't know how important a change like this would be.
I'd like to think most users just shove their roms into one folder (possibly the same one the emu is in) but I honestly don't know what they do.
